What's more unlikely than your first band's release being issued by the legendary music club CBGB? Having your eclectic, hardcore punk debut reviewed in People magazine, right underneath "Into The Fire" by Bryan Adams.
Ludichrist's early success was somewhat miraculous, especially to a sixteen year old in the 80's
who still lived on Long Island and felt like a complete dork.
More may be added to this page in the future, detailing my experience with Ludichrist, but... it was a long time ago.

I was probably a bit put off when I read the opening line of the review of "Immaculate Deception" on the left. But taking the picture above into account, I think Demain was right. What a greasy, pimply band we were. Chuck Valle, Ludichrist's original bassist (whom I and Mark Durnex recruited for the band by getting him to attend our "audition showcase" at CBGB, the first gig we'd ever played as musicians) was stabbed to death, tragically, while he was on tour as the bassist for the legendary NY band Murphy's Law. Chuck worked hard to be the best bassist he could, and had became an accomplished audio engineer. It's a crime that his life was cut short.

Incredibly, Hilly Crystal (the owner of CBGB) was one of the earliest supporters of Ludichrist and not only put us on the CBGB "Off the Board" record compilation but issued Ludichrist's first official release, a full length set recorded live at CBGB. We actually recorded during the day in an empty club. The "crowd" one hears at the close of the release was taken from an unknown concert (someone once told me where it came from and it was hilarious, but I've long forgotten it) and added by the engineer after recording was completed.
